Ontario Birds / Re: Purple Sandpiper at TTP

This has been a banner year for Purple Sandpipers in Toronto. Since the end of October, birds have been showing up regularly in eastern and western locations along the city's shoreline. Here's a photo of one of these sandpipers that I saw recently at the end of Peninsula B in Tommy Thompson Park.

Very nice photo. But does he seems to be sad to you? Maybe the big dark eyes...

December 29. Watched a Bald Eagle for about an hour and a half from the comfort of our living room! It sat in an Oak tree about a hundred yards away preening and watching as hikers passed on the trails below completely unaware he was above them. Unfortunately, we missed seeing it fly off but it was a treat being able to watch such a magnificent bird, for such a long time, at our leisure!

Backyard Birding / Very Late Lincoln's Sparrow.

While I still have an adult White-crowned Sparrow hanging around it was joined today by a Lincoln's Sparrow. Lincoln's Sparrows are rare enough in this area, but in late December? Photo here: https://ebird.org/canada/checklist/S78254550

Very good find Thomas. My only sighting of Red Crossbills came from my trips to Algonquin, 3 and half hour drive away. So was for White-winged until this year when I got to see a few in Ashbridges Bay Park. So anything closer is a bonus.

When I was sweeping snow this morning at 6:45, I saw a fox trotting on the road, 1st ever. Not just in my area. My very first wild fox sighting! You just have to wish hard, hahaha. Not I am wishing for short-eared owls. :P :P
