Always wondered why they call them catbirds.....they don't look anything like a cat...

A catbird is a mimic when it is not a burglar, wherein it learned to keep its mouth shut. When busking in the bushes its mimic skills are not as varied as a mockingbird, perhaps because it is less inspired by the songs of other birds and prefers the feline muse. Nonetheless a catbird can be quite effusive, almost as if arguing with itself. I should know ... shut ... up! Where was I? Oh yes, the plaintive calls resemble a cat with a sack of woe.

Sooooo I watched this little clip on Youtube....I enjoyed it....great instructions but...I wasn't convinced that it was mimicry so much as wishful thinking by observer in the field...now that said I have difficulty distinguishing / learning song...I mean I can do the obvious ones...blue jay, crows, mallard ducks etc. but beyond that it's something I just cannot get a hold of...
